The course defines and discusses the standards of textuality, i.e. cohesion, coherence, intentionality, acceptability, informativity, situationality, and intertextuality and models of text typology. The course focuses on written texts and debates related issues like ideology and power in text production, understanding and interpretation, background knowledge, strategies for effective communication and manipulation. The course also explores the various contributions text linguistics provides for other fields such as language learning and teaching and translation.
